Meaghan's Sock Hop

Here are the pictures from Meaghan's Sock Hop. She danced, laughed and had so much fun. Even Dr. Head was dancing and even playing with the kids. It was a great ending to a long awaited end of the year. Meaghan's was showing her friends that her Grandma taught her how to dance "The Twist". Then her Nana danced with her. If you have not watched the video yet, it is priceless. Go Nana!!! Then the highlight of Meaghan's day was having her picture made with Bailey Winnett; she was speechless. She did not get to go on her DATE Friday. Bailey got hit in the face while playing baseball and his lips were swollen. He told his Mom that he did not want Meaghan to see him like that! Too cute!!! We decided to postpone till he looks better - LOL! Enjoy...

Brad's Graduation

Last night was the big event! Brad graduated from Gardendale and is Wallace bound. As I sit and reflect on the days gone by I am thrilled to be a part of his life. He is the first of the kids to graduate and if he continues with his goals he will have a full life. As we stood and watched him come down the hall in the procession my eyes filled with tears and I was so very proud of him. Paula even captured him looking at me and grinning because I was shedding a FEW tears.

Also, my other nephew, Brad's brother Michael, graduated from elementary school on Wednesday. He was voted as "Most Funniest", which to me is the "Class Clown". Too funny!

I am very proud of my two graduates!

I could not resist putting a few photos from when he was a baby on the slide. Take a look at Kevin!

The Shaw Family

Well I found out this weekend that my friend is moving. Kelli, DJ and Jay are moving to Phoenix City for Jay to play baseball. Although I hate to see them move, I know that it will benefit Jay. Bonita, Kelli and I went and had dinner Saturday night at The Tavern and had a blast. We laughed, cried and Kelli told all about her boo-boo!

I guess what bothers me most is sometimes we take things for granted. I always knew she was there if I needed her and I regret that the three of us did not spend more time together when we had a chance. I will truly miss her. The attached picture I stole off of Jay's MySpace page.

The Graves' family loves and will miss the one and only Shaw Family!

Meaghan's Field Day

Yesterday I had the joy of spending with Meaghan and her friends at Pinson's Field Day. We had so much fun! From Larry the Magic Man to Mrs. Shelley spraying Dr. Chicken Neck with a water bottle. The post below is Mr. Larry and the Tooty Ta Ta and the pictures on this blog are from the days different events. I have another video of The Cha-Cha Slide that I will try to post tonight.

Great fun for our last Field Day at Pinson Elementary. Look out Johnson, here we come again!

Elvis - aka Robert Glass

Anybody that truly knows me knows that I am an Elvis fan. Now, I am not the kind of fan that thinks that he is still alive or that he is some kind of god. I enjoy listening to his music and I like to watch impersonators. I have seen a few but I must say Robert Glass has been the best. He is a friend of my Dad and he performed at my surprise birthday party several years ago. Saturday we attended the Magnolia Festival in Gardendale for the car show and Robert performed. Needless to say my Dad had him come over and take a picture with me DURING his show. It was GREAT!!! These are some of the pictures from Saturday. BTW - Kevin came won Top 10!

Six Flags

This weekend we took our trip to Six Flags. We left Saturday morning around 6:00AM. We met Lee, Stacy and Madi in Trussville and told the girls where we were going. They got so excited for the first of many things to come. We arrived at Six Flags right after the opening and to my amazement it was not crowded like I thought it would be. As we walked through the gates we saw Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and Marvin the Marsion! We had a few pictures taken and the guys and Madi headed to The Georgia Scorcher. Stacy, Meaghan & I got our Flash Pass and we headed to The Mind Bender. To my amazement Meaghan rode it twice! We had a great time and ended up riding all of the rides that we wanted to, some more than once. We rode about 18 rides in addition to playing games and of course, eating! I think the best ride for them was Goliath. I think Lee rode it about four times! We stayed at the park until about 8:30 and then walked over to The Wingate Inn at Six Flags. We had so much fun and we are glad that we were able to share it with Lee, Stacy & Madi. If you have not been to Six Flags in a while, it is so worth the trip. We are thinking about getting Season Passes – I guess we’ll see. Enjoy the pictures.

Birmingham Zoo

This week is Spring Break for my kids. Monday Meaghan, Bailey, Brandy and I went to the zoo. We had so much fun. When they were about 3 and 4 I took all four of them to the zoo and Meaghan and I have not been back since. They have added a lot since then and the kids loved it. Some of the photos are attached. Enjoy!

BTW - Six Flags on Saturday!!!

Heart Full of Pride

As a Mother of two wonderful children I can honestly say that there are lots of things that happen in their lives that makes me extremely proud. It can be the smallest of gestures or the largest of accomplishments that makes by heart swell with pride. But as an Aunt to 8 nephews and 2 nieces I got to experience a first! Brad's Senior Prom was last night. As I stood and watched as Stacy took their portraits, I became so overjoyed and proud of him. He is the oldest of the kids and will be the first to graduate. So today my heart is full and I am truly thankful to have such a wonderful nephew like Brad. I love you Number One!

Meaghan & Summer

This weekend Summer spent the night with Meaghan. They played with Meaghan's new camera that Grandma gave her. Yes, another new camera. We are not sure what happened to the first one. We think the "Little Fellow" dropped it. So being the Grandma that she is, she gave her another one. After looking at the camera and loading her software, I found that if the setting is on VGA she can take 2000 pictures. She will be thrilled when I tell her. She loves taking pictures and videos. There is one video that I am trying to figure out how to load on the Blog, so if anyone knows please tell me. Here are some of the photos that the girls took. As you will see, Summer took most of them while Meaghan posed. That's Meaghan, always wanting to be the center of attention...

Mickey's Calling My Name - I had to Answer!

Well it is official! I made my reservations today. Mickey has been calling my name and I finally answered. The kids will be so excited when I tell them. I had planned on waiting until later in the year to make the reservations, but believe it or not, Kevin asked me last night had I done it yet. Well, believe me I jumped all over that one. Kevin may not admit it to anyone, but he loves going there as much as me and the kids. Our plans are to go every year. It may sound a bit extreme to go yearly, but that is what "we" like. With the proper planning it can be done. Justin and Meaghan get so excited at just the mention of going and that alone is priceless.

"The Year of a Million Dreams" will end on December 31, 2007 and I can't wait to see what Disney has planned for 2008. As posted before, when we went in December 2006 and January 2007, we had a few "Dreams" come true. So we will see what 2008 holds for us.

A first for Justin!

The time has come for Justin to step up and take some additional responsibilities. Kevin came in today and told me to get the camera, Justin was cutting the grass for the first time! For the past couple of years we have paid Taylor to take care of our lawn, but now, Justin can do it!

Wow! Saving money feels great!!!

Six Flags

We are thinking about taking the kids to Six Flags. They are out of schools in April for Spring Break and thought it would be fun. Kevin and I have not been in years, and Justin has never been. Justin loves thrill rides and I think he will have a blast. I am not sure about Meaghan. She rode Thunder Railroad and Space Mountain in Disney World, but the roller coasters at Six Flags seem like they are larger. I guess we will leave it up to her when we get there. I am looking forward to getting Kevin away from work and stress and making him relax and have some fun. If I can accomplish that when we go places then I feel like it is worth the money and time.

Non - Planners

This week Kevin asked me to help a friend of his plan a trip to Disney World. They are leaving the middle of April and have no idea what they are doing. No dining reservations, no game plan for touring - nothing. I made several suggestions and tried to help them as much as I could. If not for some guidance from me they would be wondering around the World aimlessly without any direction of where to go.

I could not imagine spending that kind of money for vacation and not doing any kind of research. I know I am compulsive planner. I must have everything done and in order before I can go or do anything. Justin is worse than I am but Meaghan, no way. She is like her Dad, throw it in a suitcase and just go!

Thank you Grandma!

Sunday after church my Mom gave Meaghan a digital camera! She got her a new one and gave the old one to Meaghan. She has gone crazy with it. She has taken at least 100 pictures with it so far and about 10 videos. Yes, videos. She has already figured out how to work the thing. I showed her once and that was all it took. She runs around the house taking pictures and videos and laughing like mad. These are some of the pictures that she has taken along with a few from her school program from last night. We got there late and had to sit in the back so some of the photos are out of focus. She had fun singing and dancing. She played the part of "Sparky". It was very cute.

H&G Show

Here are pictures of our booths at the Home and Garden Show this past weekend. It was a lot of work and long hours, but worth it in the long run.

My Rock Climber

Meaghan may not be a sports fan but she loves to rock climb. Yes, you heard me, rock climb. The first time she every climbed we were in Panama City at a street festival. Before she was finished, she had a huge crowd around her cheering her on. She loves it. She is very much a girly girl. She is not a girl for the ballpark nor a child that enjoys anything that will make her sweat for any amount of time. But she loves to climb the rocks and ring that bell. Who knows she may end up being an Olympic Rock Climber instead of a gymnast. Gymnastics is fun for her and she enjoys it, but I think this is her passion. Funny, I never thought she would want to do something "sports", but when she sees that wall, she gets so excited. The attached pictures are from the Home and Garden Show Rock Climbing Wall. Enjoy!

Sick Baby...

Isn't it amazing when men are sick that the world comes to an end. Kevin and Justin went fishing Saturday and now he is about to die! Let's see, he has a little sore throat and "doesn't feel good" and has to stay in bed all day. I left to go pickup Meaghan and had to stop to buy orange juice and Tylenol Cold. If that was me do you think that I would get to go to bed? Absolutely not. If I went and got in the bed in the middle of the day I would hear "Mom, what are you doing"? "Mom, what are we going to eat"? "Mom, did you do..."?

I love him, but what a baby!

Work that never ends...

It seems that my work is never done. Between working a full time job (well, sort of) there is the never ending things to do at home. I would love to be able to say my family "picks up after themselves", they do not! It would be nice to have our house stay "spotless" for longer than Thursday's sundown. After doing homework, cooking dinner, cleaning the kitchen and washing/drying clothes while doing everything else, I would like to walk out of a clean room, walk back in and it still be clean. I do not think that is asking to much, nor do I think that it would be to hard. Saturday I cleaned out drawers and gave away a huge bag of clothes. Kevin took Justin to the Bassmaster's and Meaghan was at Megan Cole's house. There was nothing out of place all day long. Well guess what? Soon after arriving home, there was stuff everywhere! Guess whom picked it all up? You got it, me. One of these days I am going on strike. No cooking, no cleaning, no washing and even no Bonita! My family would not know how to act if that happened. I guess I should be somewhat thankful that they rely on me as much as they do. But sometimes enough is enough!!!

Brad's Soccer Game 2/22/2007

For the first time in his 18 years we finally got to see him play soccer. My heart swells with pride when I see what a great young man he has become. Although he was not able to have a relationship with us when he was little, it feels so good to be able to cheer him on now. We could never tell him how much we love him and how proud we are of him.

The following are the photos that I took. (Thank you Stacy for letting me use your Canon Rebel with that huge lense!)

Fun with Sadie

Sadie and I had a blast Saturday playing in the Game Room at Playstation. Mandi took this picture and I thought it was great, so I wanted to share it.

I'm Ready, I'm Ready!

I am so ready to go the the beach! Kevin and I have one trip planned for June 30th - July 7th. We come back the day before our 19th Anniversary. We are staying in the same place that we did last year and for the price I am trying to talk Kevin into letting me and Stacy take the kids down for a additional week. I'll work on him tonight and he will probably give in to me. ;) The last time that she and I did that the kids had a blast. The eight of us went down and a few days later Kevin and Tony joined us. We'll see...

The slide is a few of the pictures from our June 2006 trip. If anybody is going to the beach and looking for a place let me know and I will give you the name of the man that we rent from. It is a one bedroom (with two beds), one bath, kitchen and the living room has a sleeper sofa. The price is unbelievable!

Miss Thompson's First Grade Class

I have to say that teachers get the shaft! I have the privilege to class sit once a month for 3 hours at Pinson Elementary. Meaghan had Christy Thompson last year and I cover for her while she attends her BBSST meeting. It seems to me that teachers sometimes do not get the respect that they deserve. These kids can be a handful sometimes, however, I really enjoy being there with them. I always bring some kind of craft or something fun for us to do. They always seem so happy to see me and that makes it worth the effort.

The challenges that some classes have would seem to be overwhelming. Miss Thompson's class has three children that are learning English, 4 children with some degree of learning difficulty and a few that have enough energy for 20 kids. To an untrained person I guess it could be overwhelming, but to a professional it is part of the every day. Having said that, I must commend these teachers - give me Papa any day!!

Justin's 15th Birthday Dinner

It is hard to believe that my baby is now 15. His birthday was February 6th and he passed his drivers permit test!
We will be celebrating his birthday Friday, February 16th. Justin wants to have dinner with friends and family at home. So, I will be cooking one of his favorites for everyone - enchiladas, rice and cheese dip.
Everyone is welcome. Just let me know if you plan to come.

Roger will have his 1953 Ford Truck and Tony will have his 1957 Chevrolet Truck also in the show. We will be there all three days and look forward to seeing everyone there. The price of the tickets are $15.00 for age 12 and up, $5.00 for ages 6 to 11 and ages 5 and under are free.

If not, I will keep trying.

You know that I put these on here for you to look at. (You know who you are) :)

Thank you Tour Guide Mike

I could not express enough how much Tour Guide Mike helped me in planning our trip to WDW. I joined TGM several months before our trip and learned so much. My family laughed at me and Kevin referred to TGM as my boyfriend. At first I would print out things and carry them to bed with me to read and then I got to were I would just take my laptop with me and prop in the bed and read. Kevin and everyone else may have laughed at me, but before we left he even started asking, "What does Mike say about...".

When we arrived I was very nervous, but Mike proved true the first day. We never stood in lines for longer that 5 -10 minutes. We were able to ride sometimes 7 - 10 rides in less than 2 hours. Considering that we went December 28 - January 4th and that the crowds were the heaviest than ever, I thought we did wonderful.

I tell everyone that I know that is planning a trip to WDW, do not go without TGM. Kevin and I are planning to go again in April 2008 and I have already renewed my subscription.

Thank you Mike for all of your hard work. Our family is forever grateful.
